The speed measurement and benchmarking of web hosting companies provided by Chronoservers.com, is an accurate reflection of how a web server server from any hosting company performs when accessed from different locations around the world. We call this process POLY-GAUGING. Much thought has been given to this method and measuring process in order to provide you with accurate data.

In order to have a clear idea about which companies have the fastest servers, some criteria has to be met. The following questions drive this criteria: Where are the servers going to be accessed from? How do we measure the download speed? How do they compare against each other, even when many claim to be the fastest? For instance, if a visitor from Australia finds a hosting company in the USA that says they are the fastest, how would they compare it against another company from Europe that makes the same claim, or vice-versa?

The only way to know the real speed of a given server is by measuring a file download response (in seconds). Our network will call a given server from nodes in various countries around the world (not from this server). This way we can create an average speed per day, then per week and finally per month. This system will provide the key-file to download. To avoid any cheating potential, we have designed this file to be ignored by the system if it has been changed. THIS FILE SHOULD NOT BE MODIFIED. The system will take out of the rankings any company with an adulterated file. The hosting companies place this key-file in the home directory at their web server, Then we measure the download speeds from the different nodes.

Once we have all those elements gathered together, our algorithms benchmark the web hosting servers speed, and show the ranking to the world. So regardless of your location, you can see the difference between them all. You might be surprised to see how the download speed varies from different parts of the world, and how a company that is really fast when accessed from France, becomes slow when accessed from the UK or India, just to mention one example. The field is leveled for all to play!

So far we have received space in servers with locations in in Europe (Germany, UK and Spain), South America (Chile), USA, Canada (Vancouver), Australia (Melbourne), China, and India. If you are interested in donating a small space in your server so it becomes another measurement NODE in the network, please contact us. We only need a few MB of space and access to a database such as MySQL. Your company could be mentioned here as a sponsor. We are currently looking for servers in South Africa, Hawaii, Russia, Middle East, Mexico, Brazil, Korea or Japan, and others in the Pacific rim.
